Sometimes, just when we need them, just the right things show up as reminders.
I’ve been missing a friend who passed away a few days ago. She was only 51, which seems too soon to have to say goodbye. She was a lovely person, and her family and friends are missing her so much.
Today I was sitting in the aisle seat on an airplane, thinking whatever thoughts, and a young woman was standing in front of me, waiting to get off the plane. On the back of her sweatshirt was this message: “Love Your Life.”
Perfect. Perfect timing, perfect placement. A helpful sign along the way.
And just a few days ago this quote showed up:
I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.
My friend had these qualities, and although I miss her unique way of expressing them, there they are, still. I’m grateful for having known my friend, and for seeing reflections of the love she carried and shared so easily.
A few other things I’m grateful for…
- The young lady with the great sweatshirt
- A safe journey today
- Leaders, teachers, friends, family, and coworkers who remember the astonishing qualities of those around them
